البَلَحُ كصَرْد: النَّسْرُ القَدِيمُ إذا هَرِمَ
Al-balah (like Sird): the old vulture when it becomes decrepit.
وفي التهذيب: هو ظائر أكبر من الرخم، أو هو طائر أعظم منه
And in Al-Tahdhib: it is a bird larger than the Rukh, or it is a bird greater than it.
يقال: إنه لا تقع ريشة منه وسط ريش طائر إلا أحرقته.
It is said: no feather from it falls into the midst of a bird's feathers except it burns them.
وتقول: مر البلح فمسحني تمثاله: أي وقع علي ظله.
And you say: Al-balah passed by and its shadow swept over me: meaning its shadow fell upon me.
وبلح الثرى، كمنع: يبس وذهب ماؤه.
And balaha al-thara, like man'a: it dried up and its moisture went away.
وبلح الرجل بلوحا، بالضم: أعيا.
And balaha al-rajul buluha, with damma: he became exhausted.
وقد أبلحه السير فانقطع به.
And the journey exhausted him, so he was cut off.
واشتكى الأوصال منه وبلح
And he complained of his joints and became exhausted.
جاء في الحديث: لا يزال المؤمن. معنقا صالحا ما لم يصب دما حراما، فإذا أصاب دما حراما بلح
It came in the hadith: A believer remains. embracing goodness as long as he does not shed forbidden blood, but when he sheds forbidden blood, he perishes.
استنفرتهم فبلحوا علي: أي أبوا كأنهم أعيوا عن الخروج معه وإعانته.

If he is incapacitated by exhaustion and cannot move, it is said: he has 'balaha'.
وبلح الماء بلوحا، إذا ذهب.
And balaha al-ma' buluha, if it disappeared.
ومنهم البلوح: البئر الذاهبة الماء.
And among them is Al-buluh: the well that has lost its water.
ولا الصماريد البكاء البلح
Nor the stubborn, weeping, dry ones.
والبلوح: الرجل القاطع لرحمه
And Al-buluh: the man who severs his kinship ties.
بلحت خفارته، إذا لم يف
His protection has 'balahat', if it did not suffice.
ألا بلحت خفارة آل لأم فلا شاة ترد ولا بعيرا

And 'balaha' alayya and 'balaha': meaning I found nothing from him.
بلح ما على غريمي: إذ لم يكن عنده شيء وبلح الغريم: إذا أفلس.
'Balaha' what was on my debtor: meaning he had nothing, and the debtor 'balaha': meaning he went bankrupt.
وبلح الرجل بشهادته يبلح بلحا: كتمها.
And a man 'balaha' with his testimony, yabluhu balahan: he concealed it.
والبلحة والبلجة: الاست؛ عن كراع، والجيم أعلى.
