قال: المستميت: الذي استمات في طلب اللهو والنساء.
He said: Al-mustamīt: one who exerts himself excessively in seeking amusement and women.
وقال في مكان آخر: العفنجيج. بإثبات الياء وهو الجافي الخلق.
And he said elsewhere: Al-'afanjīj. With the affirmation of the ya, and he is of uncouth creation.
وقيل: هو الضخم الأحمق
And it is said: he is the large and foolish one.
أكوى ذوي الأضغان كيا منضجا منهم وذا الخنابة العفنججا
I cauterize those who bear grudges with a ripe cautery among them, and the one with the large, foolish frame.
والعفنجج أيضا: الضخم اللهازم والوجنات والألواح، وهو مع ذالك أكول فسل عظيم الجثة ضعيف العقل
And al-'afanjaj also: large in the jaws, cheeks, and shoulders; and with that, he is gluttonous, weak, large in body, and weak in mind.
قال سيبويه: عفنجج ملحق بجحنفل، ولم يكونوا ليغيروه عن بنائه، كما لم يكونوا ليغيروا عفججا عن بناء جحفل.
Sibawayh said: 'afanjaj is a suffix attached to 'jaḥnfal', and they would not change it from its structure, just as they would not change 'afjaj from the structure of 'jaḥfal'.
والعفنجج أيضا: الناقة الضخمة المسنة.
And al-'afanjaj also: the large, old she-camel.
وقيل: هي السريعة، وكذا ناقة عنفجيج، وسيأتي.
And it is said: she is the fast one, and likewise a fast she-camel, and it will come later.
