وفسره بعضهم فقال: هي كتاب صاحب المال لوكيله أن يدفع مالا قراضا يأمن به من خطر الطريق
And some interpreted it, saying: It is a letter from the owner of the money to his agent to pay money as a loan, by which he is safe from the danger of the road.

And the plural is 'as-safatij'.
هي بضم السين، وقيل: بفتحها وفتح التاء، معرب سفته
It is with a damma on the sin, and it is said: with a fatha on it and a fatha on the ta, it is a Persian loanword from 'safteh'.
بضم السين وفتح التاء: الشيء المحكم، سمي به هاذا القرض لإحكام أمره
With a damma on the sin and a fatha on the ta: the well-secured thing, this loan was named so due to the securing of its matter.
وهو قرض استفاد به المقرض سقوط خطر الطريق بأن يقرض ماله عند الخوف عليه ليرد عليه في موضع أمن
It is a loan by which the lender benefits from the removal of the road's danger by lending his money when he fears for it, to have it returned to him in a place of safety.
لأنه عليه السلام نهى عن قرض جر نفعا
Because the Prophet, peace be upon him, forbade a loan that brings a benefit.
