Al-jalj: the skulls of people, meaning every head. It is said: on every skull is such and such.
وفي الحديث: (أنه: قيل للنبي صلى الله عليه وسلملما أنزلت: {إنا فتحنا لك فتحا مبينا} ليغفر لك الله ما تقدم من ذنبك وما تأخر (سورة الفتح، الآيتان: 1 و 2) : هذا لرسول الله وبقينا نحن في جلج، لا ندري ما يصنع بنا.
And in the Hadith: (It was said to the Prophet, peace be upon him, when {Indeed, We have granted you a clear conquest} was revealed, {that Allah may forgive for you what has preceded of your sin and what will follow} (Surah Al-Fath, verses 1 and 2): This is for the Messenger of Allah, and we remained in agitation, not knowing what He would do with us.
روى أبو العباس عن ابن الأعرابي، وعن عمر وعن أبيه: الجلج: رؤوس الناس، واحدها جلجة
Abu Al-Abbas narrated from Ibn Al-A'rabi, and from Omar and his father: Al-jalj: the heads of people, the singular of which is jaljah.
فالمعنى أنا بقينا في عدد رؤوس كثيرة من المسلمين
So the meaning is that we remained among a large number of Muslim heads.
معناه وبقينا نحن في عدد من أمثالنا من المسلمين لا ندري ما يصنع بنا.
Its meaning is that we remained among a number of Muslims like us, not knowing what He would do with us.
وقيل: الجلج في لغة أهل اليمامة حباب الماء، كأنه يريد تركنا في أمر ضيق الحباب.
And it was said: Al-jalj in the language of the people of Yamamah is the bubbles of water, as if it means leaving us in a narrow matter of bubbles.
وإنا بعد في جلجنا
And we are still in our agitation.
أنه الأمر المضطرب.
It is the disordered matter.
