The 'ra'thah' (with fatha and sukun, as before) is the 'tiltalah' (a type of ornament), as found in all major lexicons like Al-Tahdhib, Al-Muḥkam, and Al-Lisān, so there is no heed to what our shaykh said: it is unusual.

Umm Zaynab bint Nabīt said: 'I and my two sisters were in the lap of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, and he used to adorn us with dangling ornaments of gold and pearls.'

The 'ra'th': wool in general, its singular is 'ra'thah', and it is said: it is wool that hangs from a howdah or similar object; an adornment for it, like tassels.
وقيل: هو كل معلق رعث ورعثة (كالرعثة، بالضم)، عن كخراع، وخص بعضهم به القرحط والقلادة ونحوهما.
And it is said: it is every hanging thing, 'ra'th' and 'ra'thah' (like 'ra'thah', with dammah), according to Khasra', and some have specified it to be the amulet and necklace and similar items.
قال الأزهري: وكل معلاق كالقرط ونحوه يعلق من أذن، أو قلادة، فهو رعاث، والجمع رعث ورعاث ورعث، الأخيرة جمع الجمع.
Al-Azhari said: And every hanging thing like an earring or similar, that hangs from an ear, or a necklace, it is 'ra'th', and the plural is 'ra'th', 'ra'thāth', and 'ra'th', the last being the plural of the plural.

وفي بعض مصنفات الغريب: حجر يترك في أسفل البئر إذا حفرت، يجلس عليه من يريد تنقيتها، وهو الراعوفة، بالفاء، حكي ذلك عن بعضهم

كالأرعوثة بالضم، مثل الأرعوفة، وفي حديث سحر النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم (ودفن تحتع راعوثة البئر) قال ابن الأثير: هاكذا جاء في روية، والمشهور بالفاءه، وهي هي، وسيذكعر في موضعه.
Like the 'ar'uthah', with dammah, similar to 'ar'ufah', and in the hadith about the Prophet's magic (And under it was buried the 'ra'uthah' of the well), Ibn Al-Athir said: This is how it came in one narration, and the famous version is with 'fa', and it is the same thing, and it will be mentioned in its place.
