And it is said: it is al-Ḥawthā', with the unpointed Ḥā'.

And Jaw'āthā (with Ḍammah) with hamza, and Al-Jawhari was mistaken to mention it here under the letter Wāw: it is the name of a fortress in Bahrain.

And in the Hadith: 'The first Friday prayer gathered after Medina was in Juwāthā.'

And Ali bin Hamzah in the Book of Plants recorded it as Juwāthā, without hamza.

فإما أن يكون على تخفيف الهمز، وإما أن يكون أصله ذالك

So either it is by way of lightening the hamza, or its origin is that.

And it is said: Ju'āthā: a known village in Bahrain.

And Juwayth, like Zubayr: a place, in Baghdad.

وبكسر الواو المشددة، وفتح الجهيم: د، بالبصرة

And with a Kasrah on the stressed Wāw, and a Fatḥah on the Jīm: a district, in Basra.
