And the plural is 'awqat', (like 'miqat'), and a group differentiated between them by saying the first is absolute, and the second is a time in which an action is measured.
الوقت: تحديد الأوقات، كالتوقيت.

تقول: وقته ليوم كذا، مثل أجلته.
You say: 'Waqqattuhu li-yawmin kadha' (I appointed a time for it for such-and-such a day), like 'ajjaluhu' (I postponed it).

So 'tawqit' and 'ta'qit' mean to make something specific to a time that belongs to it, which is the statement of the duration.
وتقول: وقت الشيء يوقته، ووقته يقته، إذا بين حده، ثم اتسع فيه، فأطلق على المكان، فقيل للموضع ميقات.
And you say: 'Waqqata al-shay'a yuwqqituhu', and 'waqqatahu yaqituhu', if you specify its limit, then it was broadened to include place, so the location was called 'miqat'.
