وقد يتعدى واظب بنفسه، حملا على لازم، لأنه نظيره، أشار له ابن الكمال، في شرح مفتاح السكاكي عند قوله: وفتخار بمواظبتها.
And 'to persevere' can be transitive, by analogy with intransitive, because it is its equivalent, Ibn al-Kamal pointed this out in his explanation of 'Miftah al-Sikakki' at his saying: 'and pride in her perseverance'.
قال أبو زيد: المواظبة: المثابرة على الشيء، والمداومة عليه.
Abu Zayd said: Perseverance is steadfastness in a thing, and continuing in it.
قال اللحياني: يقال: فلان مواكظ على كذا وكذا. وواكظ {وواظب} ومواظب، بمعنى واحد، أي: مثابر.
Al-Lihyani said: It is said: 'So-and-so is persistent in such-and-such.' And 'to be persistent', 'to persevere', and 'persevering' are all one meaning, i.e., persistent.
وفي حديث أنس: (كن أمهاتي {يواظبنني على خدمته) ، أي: يحملنني ويبعثنني على ملازمة خدمته، والمداومة عليها.
And in the hadith of Anas: (My mothers used to make me persevere in his service), meaning: they used to carry me and send me to adhere to his service, and to continue in it.
وأرض موظوبة، وروضة موظوبة: (تدوولت بالرعي) وتعهدت (فلم) ، وفي غيره من الأمهات: حتى لم (يبق فيها كلأ) .
And a 'muwadhdhabah' land, and a 'muwadhdhabah' pasture: (it was frequented by grazing) and cared for (so that) - and in other sources: until (there was no fodder left in it).

الوظبة: جهاز ذات الحافر) ، وعن الفراء. وفي لسان العرب:} الوظبة: الحياء من ذوات الحافر. وهما واحد، فإن الجهاز، بالفتح: الحياء، كما يأتي له.
Al-Wadhbah: the genitals of hoofed animals, and from Al-Farra'. And in Lisan al-Arab: Al-Wadhbah: the hymen of hoofed animals. And they are one, for 'al-juhaz', with fatha, is the hymen, as will come.
والميظب) ، بالكسر: (الظرر) ، بالضم: نوع من الحجارة، كما يأتي وأنشد ابن الفرج للأغلب العجلي: كأن تحت خفها الوهاص ميظب أكم نيط بالملاص
And 'al-maydhab', with kasra: 'al-dharar', with damma: a type of stone, as will come. And Ibn al-Faraj recited for Al-Aghlab Al-Ajali: As if beneath her hoof was the 'al-wahas' a 'maydhab' of hills strung with 'al-malas'.
والوظب: الوطء) ، ومنه أرض موظوبة: إذا وطئت وتدوولت، وقد تقدم.
And 'al-wadhb': the trampling, and from it is 'muwadhdhabah' land: if it is trodden and frequented, and it has preceded.
وهو (شاذ، كمورق) ، وسيأتي في موضعه مع نظائره، وكقولهم: ادخلوا موحد موحد؛ قال ابن سيده: وإنما حق هاذا كله الكسر؛ لأن آتي الفعل منه إنما هو على يعل، كيعد؛ قال خداش بن زهير العامري، وهو جاهلي، ونقله الجوهري عن ابن الأعرابي: كذبت عليكم أوعدوني وعللوا بي الأرض والأقوام قردان موظبا يعني عليكم بي وبهجائي، يا قردان موظب، إذا كنت في سفر فاقطعوا بذكرى الأرض.
And it is (an anomaly, like 'muwarriq'), and it will come in its place with its parallels, and like their saying: 'Enter one by one.' Ibn Sida said: And the rule for all of this is kasra; because the verb form from it is on the 'ya'al' pattern, like 'ya'iddu'. Khaddash bin Zuhayr Al-Amiri said, and he is pre-Islamic, and Al-Jawhari transmitted from Ibn Al-A'rabi: You lied to me, you promised me and you made me sick with the earth and the people, O Qardan 'Muwadhdhab', meaning: come to me and my joy, O Qardan 'Muwadhdhab', if you are on a journey, then cut off with the remembrance of the earth.
قال: وهاذا نادر، وقياسه:} موظبا.
He said: And this is rare, and its قياس (rule) is: 'muwadhdhaban'.
وفي المعجم: هو شاذ في القياس، لأن كل ما كان من الكلام فاؤه حرف علة، فإن المفعل منه مكسور العين، مثل موعد وموجل ومورد، إلا ما شذ من مورق، اسم موضع، موكل، وموهب، وموظب، وموحد موحد، في العدد، انتهى.
And in Al-Mu'jam: It is anomalous in قياس (rule), because everything from speech whose fa' is a weak letter, then its 'maf'al' form has a kasra in the middle letter, like 'maw'id', 'mawjal', and 'mawrid', except for what is anomalous like 'muwarriq', a place name, 'muwakkal', 'mawhab', 'muwadhdhab', and 'muwahhad muwahhad', in counting, end.
