Allah made it obligatory (awjabahu), and he deserved it (istawjabahu): he merited it.
وهو مستوجب الحمد، أي: وليه، ومستحقه
And he is deserving of praise, meaning: his guardian, and his rightful recipient.
والوجيبة: الوظيفة
And 'al-wajibah': the duty.
الوجيبة: أن توجب البيع، ثم تأخذه أولا فأولا
Al-wajibah: to make the sale binding, then to take it gradually.
إذا كان البيع عن خيار فقد وجب
If the sale was subject to option, it has become binding.
والموجبة: الكبيرة من الذنوب التي يستوجب بها العذاب
And 'al-mujibah': the major sins by which punishment is deserved.
وهي التي توجب النار، أو الجنة
And it is that which necessitates hell, or paradise.
اللهم، إني أسألك موجبات رحمتك
O Allah, I ask You for the things that necessitate Your mercy.

The man brought it about: he performed it.
من فعل كذا وكذا، فقد! أوجب
Whoever does such and such, has indeed! brought it about.
أوجب ذو الثلاثة والاثنين
He who has three or two (children) has brought about (paradise).
إن صاحبا لنا أوجب
Indeed, a companion of ours has committed (a sin).
أي: ركب خطيئة استوجب بها النار
Meaning: he committed a sin for which he deserved hell.

And when he dies, let no one weep.
ما الوجوب؟ قال: إذا مات
What is 'al-wujub'? He said: When one dies.
فإذا وجب ونصب عمره
And when he died and his life was established.
ويقال للقتيل: واجب
And the slain is called: wajib.
عودهم أكلة واحدة في النهار
He accustomed them to one meal in the day.
إذا جعل قوتهم كل يوم وجبة
If he made their sustenance one meal each day.
لم يحلبها في اليوم والليلة إلا مرة واحدة
She was milked only once in the day and night.
الناقة التي ينعقد اللبأ في ضرعها
The she-camel whose colostrum has formed in its udder.
وجبت الإبل: إذا أيبست
The camels became stiff: if they became immobile.
الجبان ولا وجب
A coward and not timid.
وليس بناكل جبان ولا وجب الجنان ثقيل
Not eating, a coward, nor is the heavy-hearted timid.
ووجابة يحتمي أن يجيبا
And a coward who refrains from responding.
وقد وجب الرجل، ككرم، وجوبة بالضم
And the man became cowardly, like karuma, with wujubah (damma).

Which is competed for.

And the stake was won, a winning.
تواجبوا: تراهنوا، كأن بعضهم أوجب على بعض شيئا
They competed: they bet, as if some of them obligated something upon others.

Al-wajbah: the fall with a thud.
لولا أصوات السافرة، لسمعتم وجبة الشمس
Were it not for the sounds of the veiled ones, you would hear the falling of the sun.
فإذا بوجبة وهي صوت السقوط
And behold, a thud, which is the sound of falling.
كنت آكل الوجبة، وأنجو الوقعة
I used to eat the meal, and escape the fall.
يطعم عشرة مساكين وجبة واحدة
He feeds ten poor people one meal.
من أجاب وجبة ختان غفر له
Whoever attends a circumcision feast is forgiven.
موجب، كموسر: د، بين القدس والبلقاء
Mujib, like musir: a place, between Al-Quds and Al-Balqa.
وهو: ما يبقى فيه الماء، ولذالك فسر بالجمع كما لا يخفى
And it is: what water remains in it, and therefore it is interpreted as plural, as is clear.
فقلت له لا تبك عينك إنه بكفي ما لاقيت إذ حان موجبي
So I said to him, 'Do not let your eye weep, for in my hands is what you have met, when my end has come.'
أراد بالموجب موته
He meant by 'al-mujib' his death.
يقال: وجب موجبا: إذا مات
It is said: he died a 'mujiban': when he died.
خرج القوم إلى مواجبهم، أي: مصارعهم
The people went out to their places of death, meaning: their battlefields.
إذا برك وضرب بنفسه الأرض: قد وجب توجيبا
When he kneels and throws himself to the ground: he has fallen heavily (wajaba tawjiban).
