I seek refuge in You from the sadness of the return.
المعنى: أنه يرجع من سفره بأمر يحزنه، إما أصابه من سفره، وإما قدم عليه، مثل أن يعود غير مقضي الحاجة، أو أصابت ما له آفة، أو يقدم على أهله فيجدهم مرضى، أو فقد بعضهم.
The meaning: that he returns from his journey with something that saddens him, either something that befell him from his journey, or something that he arrived to find. For example, returning with his needs unmet, or his property afflicted by a disaster, or arriving to his family to find them ill, or having lost some of them.
وامرأة كئيبة، وكأباء أيضا
And a woman is ka'ibah, and ka'aba' also.
عز على عمك أن تأوقي أو أن تبيتي ليلة لم تغبقي أو أن ترى كأباء لم تبرنشقي
It was hard for your uncle that you would be weary, or spend a night without rest, or see a sad woman who is not joyful.
وأكأب، كأكرم: حزن، أو دخل في الكآبة، أي: الحزن، أو تغير النفس بالانكسار من شدة الهم.
And ak'aba, like akrama: he grieved, or entered into grief, meaning sadness, or his soul changed with brokenness from intense worry.
أكأب: وقع في هلكة
Ak'aba: he fell into destruction.
يسير الدليل بها خيفة وما بكآبته من خفاء
The guide travels with it in fear, and there is no hiddenness in his sadness.
وعندي أن الكآبة ها هنا الحزن؛ لاءن الخائف محزون.
And in my opinion, al-ka'abah here means sadness; because the fearful person is sad.
والكأباء، على فعلاء: الحزن الشديد.
And al-ka'ba', on the pattern of fa'laa': intense grief.
ويقال: ما أكأبك، فهو يستعمل مصدرا وصفة للأنثى، كما تقدم.
And it is said: Ma ak'abak, so it is used as a masdar and an adjective for a female, as previously mentioned.
وما به كؤبة، كهمزة، أي: تؤبة، وزنا ومعنى، أي: ما يستحيا منه
And he has no ku'bah, like humzah, meaning: tu'bah, in weight and meaning, i.e., something to be ashamed of.
ومن المجاز: اكتأب وجه الأرض، وهي كئيبة الوجه.
And from metaphor: The face of the earth became sad, and it is sad-faced.
ورماد مكتئب اللون: ضارب إلى السواد كما يكون وجه الكئيب.
And ash that is mukta'ib in color: tending towards black, as the face of a sad person is.
وأكأبه: أحزنه
And ak'abahu: he saddened him.
