وهو منهي عنه في الحديث.
And it is forbidden in the hadith.
نهى عن كراء عسب الفحل
He forbade the fee for the stallion's covering.
كنت تياسا، فقال لي البراء بن عازب: لا يحل لك عسب الفحل
I was a camel herder, and Al-Bara' ibn 'Azib said to me: 'It is not permissible for you to take the fee for the stallion's covering.'
معنى العسب في الحديث الكراء والأصل فيه الضراب.
The meaning of 'al-'asb' in the hadith is the fee, and its origin is the act of covering.
والعسيب: عظم الذنب، كالعسيبة.
And 'al-'usayb': the bone of the tail, like 'al-'usaybah'.
أو منبت الشعر منه أي من الذنب
Or the place where the hair grows from it, meaning from the tail.
والعسيب: جريدة من النخل مستقيمة دقيقة يكشط خوصها

قبض رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم والقرآن في العسب والقضم
The Messenger of God, peace be upon him, passed away, and the Quran was in the stripped palm fronds and the pieces of parchment.
والعسيب: شق في الجبل، كالعسبة.
And 'al-'usayb': a fissure in the mountain, like 'al-'asbah'.
فهراق من طرف العسيب إلى متقبل لنواطف صفر
So he poured from the edge of the fissure to a recipient for yellow honeycombs.
عسيب: جبل بعالية نجد معروف.
'Usayb: a known mountain in the upper region of Najd.
وإني مقيم ما أقام عسيب
And I shall remain as long as 'Usayb remains.
واليعسوب: أمير النحل وذكرها
And 'al-ya'sub': the prince of bees and its male.
واستعمل بعد ذلك في الرئيس الكبير والسيد والمقدم
And it was later used for a great leader, a master, and a chief.
أنا يعسوب المؤمنين، والمال يعسوب الكفار
I am the 'ya'sub' of the believers, and wealth is the 'ya'sub' of the disbelievers.
إذا كان ذلك، ضرب يعسوب الدين بذنبه فيجتمعون إليه كما يجتمع قزع الخريف
When that happens, the leader of religion will strike with his tail, and they will gather to him as the autumn clouds gather.
وضربه بذنبه: أن يغرزه في الأرض إذا باض كما تسرأ الجراد
And striking with its tail: is to plant it in the ground when it lays eggs, like locusts do.
واليعسوب: ضرب من الحجلان بالكسر جمع حجل، للطائر المعروف.
And 'al-ya'sub': a type of partridge, the plural of 'hajl', for the known bird.
وطائر أصغر من الجرادة
And a bird smaller than a locust.
لولا ظمأ الهواجر ما باليت أن أكون يعسوبا
If not for the thirst of the midday heat, I would not mind being a 'ya'sub'.
هو هنا فراشة مخضرة تطير في الربيع
It here means a greenish moth that flies in the spring.
واليعسوب: غرة في وجه الفرس مستطيلة تنقطع قبل أن تساوي أعلى المنخرين
And 'al-ya'sub': a long white marking on a horse's face that ends before reaching the top of the nostrils.
خط من بياض الغرة ينحدر حتى يمس خطم الدابة ثم ينقطع.
A line of white from the blaze that descends until it touches the horse's muzzle, then stops.

وذلك إذا ما هاج واغتلم وكلب مستعسب بالكسر.
And that is when it becomes agitated and excited, and a dog 'musta'asib' (aroused).
ورأس عسب، ككتف: بعيد العهد بالترجيل
And 'ra's 'asb', like 'katif': far removed from grooming.
عساب ككتاب: ع قرب مكة حرسها الله تعالى.
'Assab', like 'kitab': a place near Mecca, may God protect it.
والكلب يعسب أي يطرد الكلاب للسفاد.
