Some who claim to have studied the dictionary and know its terminology assert that the verb from ṭaraba is like kataba, based on his statement in the introduction.

وإذا ذكرت المصدر مطلقا فالفعل على مثال كتب، وهو من العجائب، فإنه هناك قيد بقوله: (ولا مانع)

And if the masdar is mentioned absolutely, then the verb is like kataba, and this is one of the wonders, because there it is qualified by his statement: (and there is no impediment).

فإن ورود المصدر محركا إنما يقاس في فعل مكسور العين اللازم كفرح، ووروده على خلاف ذلك في غيره نادر كالطلب ونحوه

For the occurrence of a masdar with a fath is measured in a intransitive verb with a kasra in the middle letter like fariḥa, and its occurrence otherwise is rare, like ṭalaba and the like.

وأما إذا أطلق المشاهير فلا يعتد بإطلاقه فيها، بل تجري على قواعد الصرف المشهورة ويعمل فيها بالاشتهار الرافع للنزاع كما هنا

But if the famous ones are mentioned without qualification, their unqualified mention is not considered; rather, they follow the well-known rules of morphology, and fame that resolves disputes is applied to them, as is the case here.

فإن الفعل من الطرب أجمعوا على كسره على القياس، فلا اعتداد بالإطلاق، ولا بغيره مما يخالفه المشهور، انتهى

For the verb from ṭaraba, they unanimously agree on its kasra according to analogy, so there is no consideration for the unqualified mention, nor for anything else that contradicts the well-known, end.
