والتجاذب: التنازع، وبه فسر أيضا قول الشاعر الماضي ذكره: يجاذبن البرى بمعنى المباراة والمنازعة.
And 'al-tajadhub': contention, and by this was also interpreted the aforementioned poet's saying: they pull the ropes, meaning contention and dispute.
وإن لم يجتذبه إليه جذبه الشيطان، وهو قطعة من كلام ابن سيده في (المحكم)
If he does not draw him to himself, Satan will snatch him away, and this is a piece of Ibn Sidah's speech in Al-Muḥkam.

It is said: Neither 'judhbaan' nor 'dimn' availed me; 'al-judhbaan' (with kasra and doubled fathah baa) (like 'uftaan') which is (the rein of a sandal), and 'al-dimn': it is the strap.
