And he distorted the verse of Al-Walid ibn Uqbah al-Sukuni: (Indeed, the best of people after three is the slain Tujibi who came from Egypt).

وأنشده الجوهري قتيل (التجوبي، ظنا منه أن الثلاثة هم الخلفاء، وإنما هم أي الثلاثة النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم والعمران

And Al-Jawhari recited it as the slain (al-Tujubi), thinking that the three were the Caliphs, but they are, meaning the three, the Prophet (peace be upon him) and the two Omars.

قال ابن فارس في المجمل: وقول الكميت: قتيل التجوبي هو ابن ملجم، وكان من ولد ثور بن كندة

Ibn Faris said in Al-Mujmal: And the saying of Al-Kumait: The slain al-Tujubi is Ibn Muljam, and he was from the offspring of Thawr ibn Kinda.

فقال: جئت أجوب إليكم الأرض، فسمي تجوب

So he said: I have come seeking your land, so he was named Tujub.

And the 'ta' in them is not original.

التجيب: عروق الذهب

Al-Tajib: veins of gold.

قالوا التجيبة يعنون السبيكة من عالي اللجين

They say 'al-tujaybah', meaning a bar of the finest silver.

فقل فيها كذا تصب كذا العروق من العقيان قيل لها هو التجيب

So say about it, thus are cast such veins of pure gold, it is called al-tajib.
