وإذا اشتريت الخمر لتحملها إلى بلد آخر قلت: سبيتها، بلا همز
And if you bought wine to carry it to another land, you would say: 'sabaýtuhā', without hamza.
فاستبأتها بغير مكاس في السوام ولا غصب
And I acquired it through purchase without taxes on the prices or by usurpation.
يا ابن السباء
O son of the wine seller.
فسبأ الشراب فيها
And he gathered the drinks in it.
سبأ الجلد بالنار سبأ: أحرقه
To burn skin with fire is 'sab'an': to burn it.
وانسبأ جلده إذا تقشر
And his skin peeled off if it became scaly.
وقد نصل الأظفار وانسبأ الجلد
And the fingernails became loose and the skin peeled off.
كلهن يسبأن الإنسان، أي يغيرنه
All of them change a person, meaning they alter him.
أضحت ينفرها الولدان من سبإ كأنهم تحت دفيها دحاريج
The children are now repelled by her [the camel] from Saba', as if they were small creatures under her flanks.
وجئتك من سبإ بنبإ يقين
And I have come to you from Sheba with certain news.
فمن أسلم منهم فاقبل منه، ومن لم يسلم فلا تعجل حتى أحدث إليك، قال: وأنزل في سبإ ما أنزل، فقال رجل: يا رسول الله، وما سبأ؟ أرض أو امرأة؟ قال: ليس بأرض ولا امرأة ولكنه رجل ولد عشرة من اليمن
So whoever among them submits, accept from him, and whoever does not submit, do not hasten until I instruct you. He said: And what was revealed about Saba' was revealed. A man said: O Messenger of Allah, and what is Saba'? Is it land or a woman? He said: It is neither land nor a woman, but rather a man who fathered ten from Yemen.
كأن سبيئة من بيت رأس يكون مزاجها عسل وماء
As if a saba'iyyah from Bayt Ra's, its mixture is honey and water.
أسبأ لأمر الله
He submitted to God's command.
أسبا على الشيء: خبت له قلبه
He submitted to the thing: his heart became humbled to it.
تفرقوا أيدي سبا وأيادي سبا
They scattered like the hands of Saba' and the bounties of Saba'.
من صادر أوح وارد أيدي سبا
From those coming and going, the hands of Saba'.
أيادي سبا يا عز ما كنت بعدكم فلم يحل للعينين بعدك منزل
O Saba', how great you were after you, and no dwelling has been suitable for the eyes after you.
