فإذا أنزلنا عليها الماء اهتزت وربأت
And when We sent down upon it rain, it trembled and rose up.
ذلك لأن النبت إذا هم أن يظهر ارتفعت له الأرض
That is because when the plant is about to emerge, the earth rises for it.
ربأ المال: حفظه وأصلح
He guarded wealth: he preserved it and improved it.
ولا أربأ المال من حبه ولا للفخار ولا للبخل
And I do not guard the wealth out of love for it, nor for pride, nor out of stinginess.
ربأ له إذا جمع من كل طعام ولبن وتمر وغيره
He gathered for him if he collected from every food, milk, dates, and other things.
يقال: جاء يربأ في مشيته أء يتثاقل
It is said: He came walking slowly in his gait, meaning he was heavy.
قد أغتدي والطير فوق الأصوا مرتبئات فوق أعلى العليا

ويقال: ما عرفت فلانا حتى أربأ لي، أي أشرف
And it is said: I did not know so-and-so until he appeared to me, meaning he looked out.
فرابأت واستمتمت حبلا عقدته إلى عظمات منعها الجار محكم
So I was wary and held fast to a rope I had tied to strong bones that the neighbor prevented firmly.

وربأه وارتبأه إذا رقبه
And he watched him and he observed him if he observed him.
والربأة بالفتح: الإداوة تعمل من أدم أربعة
And the rab'ah (with fatha): the waterskin made from four pieces of leather.
ومننه قيل لمكان البازي الذي يقف فيه مربأة، وقد خفف الراجز همزها فقال: بات على مرباته مقيدا
And from it is said the place where the falcon stands is a perch, and the poet eased its hamza, saying: He spent the night at his perch, tied up.

Al-Farra' said: I considered it, meaning I knew its knowledge.
وقال ابن السكيت: ما ربأت ربأه أي ما علمت به ولا شعرت ولا تهيأت له ولا أخذت أهبته
And Ibn al-Sikkit said: I did not know its matter, meaning I did not know it, nor feel it, nor prepare for it, nor take its precautions.
ويقال: ما ربأت ربأه، وما مأنت مأنه، أي لم أبال به ولم أحتفل له
And it is said: I did not know its matter, and I did not care about its matter, meaning I did not mind it and I did not pay attention to it.
وربأة تربئة: أذهبه كربأه مخففا، كما تقدم
And rab'ah with tasdiid: he made it go away, like rab'ah without tasdiid, as previously mentioned.
أرض لا رباء فيها ولا وطاء
Land with no unevenness and no flatness.
وربأ في الأمر: نظر فيه وفكر
And he considered the matter: he looked into it and thought.
