Our Sheikh said: It is said that the most eloquent for this and what preceded it is elision, and as for the hamza, it is a weak pronunciation or lisp.

صدعت القلب ثم! ذرأت فيه هواك فليم فالتأم الفطور تبلغ حيث لم يبلغ شراب ولا حزن ولم يبلغ سرور

I cracked the heart, then your love scattered within it, so it healed the cracks, reaching where neither drink nor sorrow nor joy reached.

ويروى ثم ذررت وذريت غير مهموز، وهذا هو الصحيح.

And it is narrated then dharrartu and dhariyta without hamza, and this is correct.

وأذرأه إلى كذا (: ألجأه) إليه، رواه أبو عبيد أذراه بغير همز، ورد ذلك عليه علي بن حمزة وقال: إنما هو أذرأه، بالهمز

And he compelled him to it (forced him) to it, Abu Ubaid narrated it as adhraahu without hamza, and Ali bin Hamza refuted him and said: It is only adhra'ahu, with hamza.

And the she-camel adhra'at if (she let down milk) from the udder, so she is madhra', a variant with the unpointed dhal.

A dhir' of news reached me, Ibn al-Athir vocalized it with fath then sukun, and in some copies with damma, meaning (a bit of it) and a part of it,

أتاني عن مغيرة ذرء قول وعن عيسى فقلت له كذاكا

A fragment of speech came to me from Mughirah, and from Isa, so I said to him thus.

و (يقال: هم ذرء النار)

And (it is said: they are the dhir' of the fire).

إني أظنكم آل المغيرة ذرء النار، أراد أنهم (خلقوا لها)

I think you are the progeny of the fire, meaning that they (were created for it).

وملح {ذرآني) بتسكين الراء (ويحرك) فيقال} ذرآني أي (شديد البياض) وهو مأخوذ (من الذرأة) بالضم (ولا تقل أنذراني) فإنه من لحن العوام، ومنهم من يهمل الذال.

And Dhrani salt, with a sukun on the ra (and it is vocalized) so it is said Dhrani, meaning (intensely white), and it is derived from al-dhar'ah (with damma), and do not say 'indhrani' as it is from the error of the common people, and some of them omit the dhal.

And dhir'ah (with kasr) is a goat by itself, as in al-Abab, and (the calling of a goat for milking, it is said dhir' dh'a').

قال أبو زيد أذرأت الرجل بصاحبه إذا حرشته عليه وأولعته به.

Abu Zayd said: You incited the man against his companion if you provoked him and made him obsessed with him.

وذرأت الوضين: بسطته، وهذا ذكره الليث هنا، ورد عليه أبو منصور وقال: الصواب أنها درأت الوضين، بالدال المهملة، وقد تقدم.

And dhara'at al-wadin: spread it out. Al-Layth mentioned this here, and Abu Mansur refuted him and said: The correct word is darra'at al-wadin, with the unpointed dhal, and it has been mentioned before.
